Abstract

En el mundo del diseño para animales, la oferta actual de accesorios y complementos para gatos suele manifestarse por medio de productos destinados únicamente a nuestra mascota y para su uso personal e único. La relación con estos artículos no va más lejos del momento de adquisición o compra de estos productos. Más tarde tan solo podemos esperar que nuestro pequeño felino preste atención al producto y/o accesorio. Nuestra relación e interés con el producto queda relacionada con la atención directa que el gato le dará al objeto adquirido, en los días, meses o años de uso que consideremos que ese accesorio merece. Por otra parte, rara vez encontramos diseños orientados a nuestros gatos que pretendan ser integrados en nuestro hogar ya sea por su estética o por su aspecto demasiado imponente. Resulta difícil ocultar el arenal de nuestros gatos en espacios donde su presencia no nos sea desagradable. Es complicado por igual encontrar huecos en nuestros hogares donde ubicar el rascador de 3 niveles de nuestro felino, o colocar su bebedero o bol de comida en un lugar donde no moleste ni corra el peligro de ser motivo de tropiezos. El interés reside en enfocar el trabajo de final de grado en este sector: gatos en espacios domésticos dónde sus “pertenencias” son consideradas como accesorios y no como muebles integrados en un hogar teniendo en cuenta la totalidad de sus residentes. Presentar un diseño que se adapte a los espacios domésticos y con el que nuestras mascotas puedan jugar, descansar o acicalarse; y al mismo tiempo, presentar un diseño que también tenga en cuenta un “nosotros” y nuestro posible interés en utilizar e interactuar con el mismo producto. Se trata de considerar nuestro gato como uno más, como nuestro compañero de piso, y no como nuestra mascota que nos viene dada de serie con ciertos accesorios para sus necesidades básicas. El proyecto KATWALK ofrecer un diseño modular para gatos que responda a las necesidades de los poseedores de estos animales de compañía a demás de aquellas correspondientes al animal. Se trata de un panel colocado en la pared en el que podremos acoplar diferentes accesorios en los que el gato podrá descansar, jugar, limarse las uñas u observar curiosos todos nuestros movimientos...

In the world of design for animals, the current offer of accessories for cats usually consist of products intended only for our pet and for its own use. The feeling of being part of the process of purchasing these accessories does not go any further than the moment of acquisition of these products. Later we can only hope that our little cat will pay attention to the product and / or accessory. Our relationship and interest in the product is related to the direct attention that the cat will give to the object acquired, in the days, months, years of use that we consider that accessory deserves. On the other hand, we rarely find designs for our cats that intend to be integrated into our home either because of their aesthetics or because of their too imposing appearance. It is difficult to hide the sandbox of our cats in spaces where their presence is not unpleasant. It is also difficult to find gaps in our homes where to place the 3-level scraper of our feline, or put the water cup and bowl of food somewhere where it does not bother or run the risk of being stumbled upon. The interest lies in focusing the project on this sector : cats in domestic spaces where their “belongings” are considered only as accessories and not as furniture integrated in a home and taking into account all of its residents. The goal would be to present a design that adapts to domestic spaces and with which our pets can play, rest or preen; and at the same time, to present a design that also takes into account an “us” and our possible interest in using and interacting with that same product. It is about considering our cat as one more member of the family, as our roommate, and not as our pet which has its own accessories that look to cover only its basic needs. The KATWALK project offers a design for cats that meets the needs of the owners of these pets in addition to those of the animal. It is a panel placed on the wall where we can attach different accessories in which the cat can rest, play, sharpen its nails or observe all our movements with curiosity...
