Abstract

The chair is one of the elements that collaborates with the habitability of a space, we can sit, relax, chat and even sleep. Few elements of a home offer so many possibilities of entry and if you keep going you can become a game, a gallant, a hoist, a rocky weapon, a ritual dance ... or just a social differentiator. In any case, the chair is the iconic element of product design and has been widely represented beforehand by artisans, architects and designers. The idea arises from the desire to intervene in the growing problems of afforestation of the territory due to the abandonment of the rural environment and the decreasing demand for wood since the mid - 20th century. The certified wood CM01 chair of the Catalan forests is a contribution to land and the environment. Based on the bases of sustainability, proximity and circular economy. Certified wood will be obtained through the Catforest certificate, duly regulated and maintaining traceability, which is not easy today; as well as ensuring constant supply over time. In addition to working with wood of proximity, it will be machined to workshops near the area of the cutting, minimizing the carbon footprint, will use sustainable glues of animal origin and the finishes will be based on oil without organic volatile compounds ( VOC). The initial methodological will of the chair was the formal experimentation beyond the industrial paradigms with an attempt to transfer the productive corseterism and enjoy creative exercises without reservation with the risk of remaining in an academic utopia. Fortunately, the determination of the prototype allowed to close the formal proposal on time and to direct it towards a tangible and less conceptual solution. On the other hand, comparative and experimental ergonomic studies were conducted based on the studies of Panero-Zelnik and the Institute of Biomechanics of Valencia with the intention of extracting their own conclusions about the anthropometric and ergonomic criteria of a previous middle seating chair . The third space of inquiry has become the exciting universe of the unions; from the traditional cabinetmaking, continuing through the Japanese architecture of temples and finally the visual spectacle of unbelievable embroidery simply by formal exercise. The dining chair CM01 has generous sizes of 50x50x105cm, softened with sinuous forms to the structure and reinforced with the vertical leakage of the backrest that is applied to the floor while it lightens it visually. Voice of Japanese and Swedish references both formal and constructive, which in this case are directly related. The 5-axis CNC machining and construction methods open up new possibilities that are rarely used locally in the chairs industry. To synthesize, the generating idea is the abandonment of the forest, the precarious situation and the will to intervene. The constructive and ergonomic elements have been studied and judged by contributing the own conclusions to finally mechanize it with a technology little used to offer a product 100% natural, proximity, sustainable, biodegradable, without toxicities and close to the criteria of circular economy.

La cadira és un dels element que participa a l' habitabilitat d' un espai; hi podem seure, descansar, xerrar i fins i tot dormir. Pocs elements d' una llar ofereixen tantes possibilitats d'entrada i si es continua donant-li voltes pot esdevenir un joc, un galant, un alçador, una arma llancívola, una dansa ritual,... o simplement un diferenciador social. En qualsevol cas, la cadira és l'element icònic del disseny de producte i ha estat àmpliament representada amb anterioritat pels artesans, arquitectes i dissenyadors. La idea sorgeix de la voluntat d' intervenir a la creixent problemàtica de forestació del territori degut a l' abandonament del medi rural i la decreixent demanda de fusta des de mitjans del S. XX. La cadira CM01 de fusta certificada dels boscos catalans és una aportació a la terra i al medi. Fonamentada sobre les bases de sostenibilitat, proximitat i economia circular. La fusta s'obtindrà amb la certificació Catforest que en regula i manté la traçabilitat, cosa que a dia d' avui no és fàcil; com tampoc assegurar el subministrament constant en el temps. A més de treballar amb fusta de proximitat, es mecanitzarà a tallers pròxims a la zona de la tala, minimitzant la petjada del carboni, s'utilitzaran coles sostenibles d'origen animal i els acabats seran amb base d'oli sense compostos volàtils orgànics (VOC). La voluntat metodològica inicial de la cadira era l'experimentació formal més enllà dels paradigmes industrials amb un intent de traspassar el corsetisme productiu i gaudir dels exercicis creatius sense reserves amb el risc que quedés en una utopia acadèmica. Per fortuna, la determinació del prototipatge va permetre tancar la proposta formal a temps i encarrilar-la cap a una solució tangible i menys conceptual. Per una altre banda, es realitzaren estudis ergonòmics comparats i experimentals amb base als estudis de Panero-Zelnik i l' Institut de Biomecànica de València amb la intenció d'extreure conclusions pròpies sobre els criteris antropomètrics i ergonòmics d'una cadira d'asseguda mitja anterior. El tercer espai d'investigació ha esdevingut l'apassionant univers de les unions; des de l’ebenisteria tradicional, continuant per la arquitectura japonesa de temples i finalment l'espectacle visual d'encaixos inversemblants simplement per exercici formal. La cadira de menjador CM01 té unes mides generoses de 50x50x105cm suavitzades amb formes sinuoses a la estructura i reforçades amb la fuga vertical del respatller que l'aploma al terra a la vegada que l'alleugereix visualment. Veu de referències japoneses i sueques tan a nivell formal com constructiu, que en aquest cas estan directament relacionades. Els mètodes constructius i el mecanitzat CNC de 5 eixos obren noves possibilitats poc utilitzades localment a la industria de les cadires. Per sintetitzar, la idea generadora neix de l'abandonament del bosc, la precària situació i la voluntat d'intervenir-hi. S'han estudiat i posat a judici els elements constructius i ergonòmics aportant les pròpies conclusions per finalment mecanitzar-ho amb una tecnologia poc utilitzada per oferir un producte 100% natural, de proximitat, sostenible, biodegradable, sense toxicitats i pròxim als criteris d'economia circular.
