The fashion system as a whole is in a phase of crisis, announced by some authors for years. Dress is a necessary material object from many points of view although the present system has vanished and devalued. Therefore, in this essay we try to distinguish dress from fashion to open a space for reflection on possible future scenarios, reviewing existing concepts such as democratization of fashion, and introducing others, such as vestimentary or dress system, dress culture or dress sovereignty.en
