Privilegios : objetos memorables y memoria objetual

Abstract

Este proyecto pretende explicar y hacer visible la historia de cuatro mujeres a través de objetos que hayan estado con ellas durante toda su vida; partiendo de la idea de que nuestras vidas están formadas por recuerdos, memorias y vivencias que se acumulan en nuestra mente, pero que de alguna manera están agrupadas indirectamente, también, en ciertos objetos. Del mismo modo, se aspira a hacer visible el privilegio a través de la relación establecida entre objeto y persona. Así pues, mediante entrevistas a mujeres mayores de ochenta años, y entendiendo el objeto como un elemento que puede perdurar infinitamente en el tiempo, pero que las historias a su alrededor son efímeras, ya que cuando la propietaria desaparece, su historia también lo hace, se aspira a hacer perdurar en el tiempo, también, sus memorias. Demostrando y haciendo visible que los objetos poseen la capacidad de albergar el legado y el privilegio de alguien y viceversa.

This project aims to explain and draw attention to the story of four women through the use of objects that have been with them throughout their entire lives. The starting point of the project is the idea that our lives are built upon memories and experiences that gather in our mind, but that somehow are indirectly collected in objects as well. Similarly, the thesis aims to highlight privilege through the relation established between object and person. Objects can endlessly endure the passing of time. However, the stories they tell are ephemeral, given that once their owner is gone, so is their story. By means of interviewing women beyond their eighties, this project will help perpetuate their memories apart from their possessions. This will demonstrate and emphasize that objects can contain somebody’s privilege and legacy and vice versa.
